Workshop
In this workshop, artist Samah Hijawi invites 15 persons, who are invested in looking into deeper meanings around food, for a collective exploration of the choreography of the body in the kitchen. Based on recipes each participant will bring to the workshop, we will explore the spatial, olfactory (smell), taste and visual memories of a food. Together we will document these in drawing, writing and body movements. Then we will cook them and serve them to a group of guests.

Dinner
Samah Hijawi and the workshop participants invite 15 participants to share with them the workshop outcomes and Samah will give a short talk about her practice.

Tickets You will purchase a ticket for our ticket shop and receive nearly all the money back on the day, or the days after the workshop. €1,29- goes to booking fees and is non-refundable. If you are part of the workshop you do not need a ticket for the dinner, that is included already.

Bio Samah Hijawi

Samah Hijawi is a multimedia artist, a cook and an astrologer. In her latest artistic projects, she focuses on food and its connection with memory and migration.  She recently obtained her PhD in Art Practice from the Academy Royale des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, and ULB. She is currently a tutor in DAS Masters Theater program in Amsterdam, and her writings are published in Belgian and around the world.

Alongside the food research is an on-going project called the Aesthetics of the Political, an exploration of how a political position is embedded in the aesthetic choices in an artwork. This research has materialized in many forms (performances, podcast, curated program) and is also developed as a learning program for art students who are engaged with social and political issues in their work
