[EN] How can we listen to the stories our surroundings tell, while also listening to memories from different places and realities? How could we express these memories with sound?
This workshop invites participants to explore how sound and listening are shaped by the spaces we move through, the communities we belong to, and the stories we carry together. Through guided listening exercises and recording activities, participants will trace the sonic threads that connect the places they come from, the city they now inhabit, and the communities, past and present, that anchor them.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have produced a unique sonic self-portrait: a short audio piece that captures the textures, tensions, and resonances of personal and intertwined stories.
No prior technical experience required; just curiosity, ears, and a willingness to listen collectively.

Josué Amador is a sound artist, researcher, and educator based in Rotterdam. His work investigates the sociocultural and political dimensions of sound. His ongoing research focuses on the sonic expressions of emerging urban acoustic communities.

[NL] Hoe kunnen we luisteren naar de verhalen die onze omgeving vertelt, terwijl we ook luisteren naar herinneringen van verschillende plekken en realiteiten? Hoe kunnen we deze herinneringen uitdrukken met geluid?
Deze workshop nodigt deelnemers uit om te ontdekken hoe geluid en luisteren worden gevormd door de ruimtes waar we doorheen bewegen, de gemeenschappen waar we toe behoren, en de verhalen die we samen dragen. Via begeleide luisteroefeningen en opdrachten om geluid op te nemen, zullen deelnemers de auditieve draden volgen die de plekken waar ze vandaan komen, de stad waar ze nu wonen, en de gemeenschappen – vroeger en nu – die hen verankeren, met elkaar verbinden.
Aan het einde van de workshop hebben deelnemers een uniek auditief zelfportret gemaakt: een korte audiofragment die de texturen, spanningen en resonanties van persoonlijke en verweven verhalen vastlegt.
Er is geen technische ervaring vereist; alleen nieuwsgierigheid, oren en de bereidheid om collectief te luisteren.
Josué Amador is een geluidskunstenaar, onderzoeker en docent in Rotterdam. Zijn werk onderzoekt de sociaal-culturele en politieke dimensies van geluid. Zijn lopende onderzoek richt zich op de auditieve uitdrukkingen van opkomende stedelijke akoestische gemeenschappen.
