Agnès Varda is een van de grote namen van de Franse cinema. In deze documentaire trekt ze samen met straatkunstenaar JR door het rurale Frankrijk, waar ze gewone mensen fotografeert en hun portretten op muren, silo’s en gebouwen plakt. Ze geeft iedereen die ze ontmoet haar volledige aandacht.We konden ons geen beter film bedenken om het seizoen mee af te sluiten voor de zomerpauze. Het voelt als een film die er altijd al bij heeft gehoord, en een mooie gelegenheid om samen na te denken over kunst, gemeenschap en hun rol in de buurt.
Na de screening gaan we naar buiten voor een picknick in de tuin. Neem een deken mee, een frisbee of een spelletje. Wij zorgen voor eten en drinken.
Acts of Care is een maandelijkse filmreeks bij Dokhuis, samen georganiseerd met filmclub dispositif. We brengen films uit verschillende tijden en plekken samen om na te denken over zorg in al haar vormen. Elke screening wordt gevolgd door eten, een gesprek met gasten, of gewoon een informele napraat, als een open en toegankelijke plek om te delen en te reflecteren.

Agnès Varda is one of the great figures of French cinema. In this documentary, she teams up with street artist JR and travels through rural France, photographing ordinary people and pasting their portraits on walls, silos, and buildings, giving her full attention to everyone she meets.
We could not think of a better film to close the season before the summer break. It is a film that feels like a natural Acts of Care film, a good moment to think together about art, community, and their role in the neighbourhood.
After the screening we move outside for a garden picnic. Bring a blanket, a frisbee, or a game. We will have food and drinks ready.
Acts of Care is a monthly film series at dokhuis, organized together with dispositif film club, that brings together works from different times and places to reflect on care in its many forms. Each screening is followed by either food, discussions with guests, or informal conversation, creating an open and inclusive space for sharing and reflection.
