Philosophy Night: Waste

Philosophy Night: Waste

In the upcoming edition of Philosophy Night we will talk about waste. Waste is something that can mean a lot of things, from things that were meant to waste (packaging) to things that accidentally end up as waste (excess food). What underpins all these different forms of waste? We will (dumpster) dive in and find out what waste actually means. We will talk about Lisa Doeland, Michel Serres, Michael Marder and Georges Bataille.

Don’t waste any time doubting and join us on the 10th of July!

About Philosophy Night
Philosophy Night is an event where we talk about philosophical topics. You don’t need to read up on anything in advance, as you will get up to speed at the start of the night. After the opening we discuss questions in smaller groups, so everyone gets a chance to share what they think. There is no right or wrong answer. Try to tell why you think something is true (or not) and you will walk out having had wonderful conversations. We rotate between plenary discussions and smaller group conversations to get as much interaction as we can. Welcome to everyone who is interested! The evenings are hosted by Kas Molenaar and Christiaan Verheij.

Kas Molenaar is a philosopher from Rotterdam who one could call a ‘real’ philosopher as he thinks and talks about it day and night. During Philosophy Nights he will talk about thinkers and books to give everyone there a starting point for wonderful conversations. Amongst his favourites are Heidegger and Bataille.

Christiaan Verheij is a secondary school teacher from Sliedrecht. During Philosophy Nights he will host the evening and guide the process as best as he can to make sure everyone can take part in our conversations. With a bit of self-mockery, he’ll try to create a place for open conversations where everyone has a place.

Dokhuis is on the ground floor & easily accessible for the visitors with weelchair. If you need an extra help you can contact us on hosein@dokhuis.org

Participation is free, but registration is required. If you choose to buy a donation ticket, you will be supporting Dokhuis and helping us to keep other events free as well.
